4 tsp dry yeast
¼ cup lukenwarm water
1 ½ cups milk
½ cup sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
¾ cup butter
2 cups sifted flour
3 eggs, beaten
½ tsp ground cardamom
½ cup raisins
1 cup crystallized fruit
Melted butter


For the frosting:
3 tsp butter
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
3 tps cream or evapored milk
1 tsp vainilla

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Heat the mil and stir in sugar, salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm and add eggs, yeast, two cups flour and cardamom. Then mix in the fruit and enough remaining flour to make a firm dough. Knead on floured surface for 5 minutes. Let it rise until the volume is doubled.Then knead it briefly again and divide in three parts. Shape each piece into an 88×10 inch oval, fold lengthwise and place in greased shallow pans. Let rise for another 30 minutes and bake at 350° for half an hour. Frost while still warm.
